 The Synopsys Outreach Foundation ACSEF is affiliated with Broadcom Masters the prestigious national middle school competition, CSEF - CA state science & engineering fair competition, and Regeneron ISEF the international science fair competition.

The projects from TSOF-ACSEF that are considered by the judges to be of superior quality are eligible to advance to these competitions.

10/3/21  Grade 8 through High School - are you interested in being on the student leadership board for the fair - a great opportunity to giveback to your community??  

The Student Leadership Board (SLB) is a student council style group of the most motivated high school students of The Synopsys Outreach Foundation ACSEF. You will bring students’ perspective to The Synopsys Outreach Foundation ACSEF, as well as host community events such as Science Workshops, Family Science Nights, and more!
This is a fantastic opportunity for high school students to gain leadership opportunities as well as to give back to The Synopsys Outreach Foundation ACSEF community. 

If you missed the Student Leadership Board (SLB) Informational Meeting on October 2nd  - NOTE this link is active up to 10/10 ONLY through the link and password.

9/27/21  For the protection of all inperson fair participants (volunteers, judges, students and others), The Synopsys Outreach Foundation ACSEF will be requiring all inperson fair participants be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and masks will be required (Note wearing of masks will be updated as per the CDC, Alameda County & State mandates at the time of the fair). We will make a HYBRID model combining some aspects of the in person fair + virtual format available for all unvaccinated participants & Judges. More details to come.

Correction: Special Award winner for Ricoh is incorrect on the video. *The correct winner is HS-MENG-197-T2 Jaspal K. and Ronak T.

Correction: Special Award winner for Broadcom Coding is Anika Bhat. In error, Karthik Subramanian was also listed as a winner. Two nominations were provided then the judge was required to narrow it down to a single project as per the Broadcom Coding Award Criteria.  ACSEF is awarding Karthik $250 for the publishing error.  

*The ALL AWARDS SPREADSHEET 3/20/21 & the PowerPoint used for the video have been corrected.



ACSEF Participation General Eligibility

Students in grades 6-12 attending schools located in Alameda County are eligible. 

Students may enter ACSEF independently on their own if their school does NOT hold a science fair.

If the school district DOES hold a science fair, students may enter ACSEF independently on their own without entering their district science fair.

If an individual's school DOES hold a science fair, the student must be selected to enter ACSEF through their school selection process. 




ACSEF is a nonprofit 501(C)(3)  public charity that runs entirely on donations and grants? 

All board members, including the Founder/Director, are 24/7 unpaid volunteers?

2022 Fair Schedule:

March 25, 2022


Project Display Setup at Dublin High School 4-9 pm

March 26, 2022


Round 1 Judging - ALL projects 9 am - 12 pm at Dublin High School


Round 2 Judging for projects being considered for state, national and international science fair competitions.

1:30 pm - 3:00 pm  at Dublin High School

March 27, 2022 


Public Hours - ALL projects

11:30 am - 1:00 pm at Dublin High School

Participants are expected to be at their project display area during this period of time to share their projects with the public, media, fair sponsors and ACSEF organizing board of directors. 


Take down of all displays -  2:00 pm *Any displays not removed cannot be stored and will be removed to the waste bin.

April 2, 2022

FOR ALL Round 1 and 2 participants:

Award Ceremony - 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm at the Alameda County Fairgrounds - Building C. *Parking fee will be charged by the fairgrounds. Online parking pass available. 


A recording of the Award Ceremony will be available on our website within a few days after the ceremony.

Awards that are not picked up at the event will be mailed or delivered to your school Principal no later than April 30, 2022.
